Description:
To effectively operate a variety of power presses and associated equipment to manufacture metal components according to established standards and customer specifications, and complete in-process inspection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates presses per M.O.I.’s and maintains accurate production records. Must see supervisor for additional assignments daily; operates multiple machines whenever possible
- Perform daily P.M. checklist prior to press start-up daily; Verify that all safety devices are activated and all guards are in place prior to running press.
- Follows established strip start procedures to minimize risk of damage to dies; ensure strips are positioned properly prior to cycling press.
- Accurately inspects parts at pre-determined intervals for visual and dimensional requirements following procedures established by Quality Assurance and/or Engineering.
- Properly package and label product containers per procedures.
- Effectively follow procedures to ensure timely movement of parts within the facility.
- Properly disposes of scrap in designated containers.
- Ensure product ID and traceability is maintained by accurately filling out required paperwork (Followers, Inspection Ticket, etc.).
- Accurately enter labor hours in MES; monitor personal time and attendance weekly.
- Support team activities.
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe work environment by following 6S standards.
- Properly follow all H&M procedures and policies.
- Use correct P.P.E. per JHAs and Job Description. Must wear protective footwear that complies with ASTM F2413 & F2412.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities, including the Idea system.
Requirements:
- Able to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
- High School or Technical School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to do basic math in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as needed.
