Application: Medical
Problem: The critical role of this stainless steel part (it holds together the mechanism that applies clips to blood vessels to stop bleeding during surgery) required extremely close forming tolerances to ensure instrument reliability. The part also required a burr-free, glare-free finish.
Solution: We designed a progressive die to complete this part in a single press operation. The resultant stamping process entirely eliminated the need for secondary operations. We also developed a sophisticated metal-finishing process that provides a satin finish without distorting this delicately formed part.
