Progressive Dies
Progressive Die Stamping
At Hobson & Motzer, we specialize in progressive die stamping. We design and build ultra precision progressive dies used to produce components for tight-tolerance, quality-critical applications for the medical device, automotive, consumer, and aerospace industries.
Most progressive dies are built with:
- Insert construction with replaceable tooling components
- Guided punches and hardened punch holders
- Back-up pads
- Quick interchangeable sub-die sets for minimum down time (depending on volume and application)
- Tools can be designed and built to hold punch and die clearances as close as.0002”per side for thin materials
Wide Range of Progressive Die Stamping
From 3” x 3” to 30” x 60” we build precision progressive dies small or large. They are designed to your specifications, from low-cost consumable tools to precision high-speed carbide dies with in-die sensors to protect your valuable investment.
Wire EDM Machines
An essential step in meeting your progressive die stamping needs for tight-tolerance for critical applications and when required, custom prototypes.
- Our EDM machines are self-threading
- Use a wide range of wire diameters from .004” to .010”
- When combined with Espirit programming, can run 24 – hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week
Precision Die Design
Our die design isn’t just good. It’s good and fast. We utilize 3-D modeling software and can import file formats including IGES, .dwg and .dxf to speed your die through design. The software is linked to production equipment in the tool room to download geometry for programming wire EDM and CNC machines. This provides seamless transfer of information and error-free manufacturing of your progressive die stampings. We design as much work into our precision dies as possible to minimize or eliminate secondary operations.
Spare Tooling
If you run progressive dies in-house, we can design, build and provide spares for your in-house tooling. Not only can we design and build your precision die, we can debug it, test it and run it.
